Indianapolis, IN--June 25, 2002 Aiding certification candidates in their effort for self-study preparation, Cisco Press announced today that the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) product line has been 600 series approved in conjunction with the updated CCNP Exams implemented by Cisco Systems earlier this month.

The CCNA exam format change made by Cisco Systems on March 12, 2002, and the action to immediately retire the past version of the exam, came as a surprise to the certification market. At that time, Cisco Systems also announced that CCNP exam format changes were forthcoming and had already begun beta testing those new exams as early as February 2002. As with the CCNA Exam announcement in March, Cisco Press was first to market with new and official CCNP #600 series products and had the only Cisco-approved self-study materials available.

Newly introduced to the Cisco Press certification and training line is the Practical Studies series, which provides users with a self-study resource for obtaining practical hands-on experience. These valuable learning resources are especially relevant now that simulation-based questions have been added to the CCNA and CCNP Routing, BSCI, and Remote Access Exams to test a candidate’s hands-on networking skills. A full line of CCNP Practical Studies books that address each of the four required exams will be published by Cisco Press over the course of the next 12 months.

CCNP Practical Studies: Routing, the first book of four within the Practical Studies series for CCNP exam preparation, provides networking lab scenarios for use with home and remote network labs or simulated network environments. The new CCNP title prepares networkers to take their practical routing skills to the next level while gaining valuable hands-on experience to help with the increased difficulty they will experience through the new exams.
